1.)my friend told me if I port my cylinder that my performance will be "peaky" and I'll lose all my lowend power is that true?
-not at all ,good porting can be custom tailored and in many applications can actually create an increase in lowend torque
2.) I was told that if i get my cylinder ported my bike will be unreliable and overheat ?
-your engines reliability will mostly come down to maintenance and proper jetting ,if your good to your motor, it will be good to you
3.)I was told that if I lighten my flywheel it will make less lowend torque,is that true?
-not the case,it is the law of inertia ,less rotational mass will reduce the load on the crank resulting in an increase torque.
4) will Ihave to bore the cylinder after any portwork?
-no ,you should only bore oversize if the cylinder is damaged or out of spec ,not because of the new port configuration
5) I already have a big bore cylinder kit so porting for me would be a waste right?
-increasing the bore size will add some torque ,but not dramaticly ,porting is where the real power is at ,a ported big bore can be a potent setup with the right layout.
6) can you port a cylinder thats already been plated without having it renickeld ?
yes ,if done correctly by a professional it can be done and chipping and flaking can be avoided.
